It has been a long time coming.. months of collecting things that inspire me, a bazillion hours of thinking and more time than expected for the designers..and now I am beyond excited to share the new look for Janine Kaye photography. When we relocated our family (and my business) to Perth this year, I wanted to give my little business a freshen up..something simple, fun, colourful and more "me". I could not rave more about the amazingly talented people I chose to help me with this adventure.
My logo and branding was a result of the creative genius of Eva and the ladies at The Thoughtful Type. They happily devoured my random items on my pinterest boards and came up with a look that exceeded my expectations but was everything I wanted but couldn't articulate in words. I literally did a girly squeal of delight when they sent though my first design concepts, and everything they have designed since then has been perfectly beautiful..and perfectly "me"!
My fabulous new blogsite is the brainchild of Brock and his awesome team at Infinet Design. I asked for simple, fresh, fun with pops of colour...and I got all that and more. I love all the little details, the gorgeous quote, the ease of navigation and the splattering of confetti! They took my badly worded brief and bought it to life with a flourish!
I cannot thank these two teams of amazing creatives enough. They put up with all my flights of fancy, what if's and how do I do's with such ease. Their patience, creativity, support and attention to detail was astounding.
I also wanted to thank all my amazing couples who entrust me to capture their wedding stories. Because of their trust & friendship, I am honoured that I get to fill this site with their gorgeous faces and details. This feels so much like my home now.. and I am so thrilled to share it with the world.
Feel free to have a poke around.. feedback, spelling mistake finding and constructive criticism welcome.
It is all quiet on the wedding front for the next few months as I take a well earned break and settle into my new surrounds and explore Perth. I have had lots of time to reflect on my life in Wollongong and the amazing people I met and were inspired by..so I thought I would start a little blog series on "Wollongong Vendors I love" to showcase all the fabulous people, businesses and suppliers I had the honour of working with over the past few years.
First up, is Meakins Jewellers . Penny and Laurie are the faces behind the name and I have been honoured to experience both their amazing jewellery creations on some of may favourite couples wedding days, but also on a personal level recently. They created the stunning black diamond weddings rings for Rachael & Peters spectacular wedding in Hamilton island last year, as well at the beautiful rings of Monique and Paul's elegant Ravensthorpe wedding in 2010.
Earlier this year I got the most amazing email from Laurie which inspired me to meet with them to chat about resetting my rings for me. I was honoured that Brad proposed almost 12 years ago with his grandmothers diamond that had been in her family for many years. At the time, we had the ring reset but I was never 100% happy with the result. Late last year, my skin reacted to the yellow gold and I could no longer wear my rings. So I took my rings into Meakins and Penny helped me to create a design for the ring I dreamed of. I wanted to showcase my beautiful "old" diamond, something befitting the age of the stone, and I wanted something with texture and detail. Being a handcut diamond that wasn't completely round, she created a stunning design to help "round out" the diamond and highlight it with a circle of smaller diamonds, and set it on an amazing band with spectacular cameo engraving. I totally LOVE it ..and you'll see why when you look at the pics...so pretty!
I cannot recommend Meakins Jewellers more highly. They are amazing artists that care, they listen to what you want and go above and beyond to make something unique and fabulous just for you! If you are looking for something for spectacularly "YOU" then please go visit them..and tell them I say Hi! xxxx jk
Ihave followed their blog from way back when I first started my photography journey. I was in awe of how open and giving they were on their blog..both of themselves and the way they run their business. I poured through the pages and images of their blog, constantly being inspired, encouraged and very excited to grow & learn. So when I met them in person back in January at the what if conference in mexico, I must admit I was a little start struck for a moment. They were as humble, generous, sweet and open as they appeared on their blog.. and I loved spending 5 days with them..chatting, laughing, learning, sharing and experiencing the wow of "what if" . I was so excited when they decided to come to sydney and teach their walk through a wedding workshop. A chance to see how they do what they do on a wedding day from start to finish..an amazing opportunity to learn and get a new perspective. They make a fabulous team, they are sensational photographers with a real passion for sharing and lifting our profession and I am excited to be attending their workshop in a few weeks... If you would like to come too, check it out all the details and how to book in HERE....and feel free to use my special code, janinekaye25 to get 25% off !!!
This week has been quite BIG for me.. the for sale sign went up outside our beloved family home and I am hopeful someone will fall as deeply in love with her as I am very soon. I am excited about the adventure ahead in WA but leaving this house and Wollongong will be hard! So before I am homeless, I have decided to run one last DSLR photography workshop :)
The workshop is on sunday 1st April from 9.30-4pm and we will cover all the buttons on your camera, exposure, composition and a whole lot more. Morning/afternoon tea & lunch is included, as well as extensive notes. Class numbers are limited so everyone has a good learning experience. Email me for more information or to reserve your spot.
I'll leave you with my thought for the day..LOL!... xxx jk
Ihave known this beautiful lady and her family since her son was a baby and it has been an honour to photograph them together over the past few years. They have such a sweet connection and are so much fun to be around. They are joyful, playful and a little bit goofy (which I LOVE!) ...and I love seeing I & B grow up and change every year. The highlight this year was seeing Karla and the amazing transformation she has undergone in the last year. She has lost a huge amount of weight and looks sensational.. I am in awe of her and I am so inspired by her outlook on her health, her life and her family. She is truly amazing! I did a lot of laughing in this session..hopefully this little preview of images gives you a glimpse of how much fun this spunky family is.. thank you K&M for sharing yourselves and your gorgeous family with me.. xxx jk
